
Training & Development
In UFSPL we embed our mission, vision, culture, and values among the workforce; bring out their potential; and develop their skills through our distinctive training and development program to carry forward our objectives. UFSPL believes that human resources are a key strength of an organization for the achievement of the company’s objectives and strategies. UFSPL has laid down satisfactory HR policies in place for its present scale of operations. UFSPL has appointed senior management/officer-in-charge who oversees staff recruitment, incentive planning, annual performance appraisal, and training of its staff. Professional grooming and leadership development are two areas that the organization continues to give emphasis to. The training and development cell will ensure the availability of a skilled and willing workforce to the organization, which has many benefits, like optimum utilization of human resources, development of human resources, growing productivity, team spirit, a healthy work environment quality, morale, and finally the behavioral improvement of an employee.
The company provides a fair and equitable working environment and freedom to act independently and to take responsibility for the assigned task. UFSPL had 618 employees as of March 31, 2024. During FY 2023-24, UFSPL has conducted a series of training sessions in different regions with the field staff (i.e., CRO, ABM, BM, RM, SR. RM, DM, & SR. DM) to make them sharper in all aspects of MF operation. We have also adopted the virtual mode of training for the new joiners in outer states with remote access to ensure the flow of learning. During the year, a large number of participants have attended the state chapter staff training program that has been conducted by our trainer. During the period FY 2023-24, UFSPL has conducted many skill development training & capacity-building sessions for new as well as present employees.
There have been several types of training that has been imparted during the year for the target participants like CRO/ABM/BM/RM/SR. RM/DM/ SR.DMs/HO Staff Members/Group Members and supervisors. Our training team has conducted the training courses for all the staff members during this period on the following training modules:

Different Types of Training/Workshops Executed:
- Orientation Training: New joiners get an overview of the company through the employee orientation training program as we provide an insight into our company's values, vision, mission, rules, regulations, policies, and practices to the new employees for their seamless transition into the organizational system.
- Induction Training: This is a daylong training program where a new joiner gets trained on basic operational processes (i.e., loan appraisal, credit & recovery, borrower selection, interest rate, overdue mechanism, concept of microfinance and its implication throughout microfinancial support, organization mission, vision, future plan, basic microfinance mechanism, sector overview, growth, career path, behavioral values, ethics, etc.) and so on. This training course for new staff is implemented in a branch/region/division-wise manner.
- On-the-job-Training: We hold on-the-job training sessions for our CRO, assistant branch manager, branch managers, regional managers, senior regional managers, divisional managers, senior divisional managers, and other field staff to develop new skills, enhance competencies, and make them conversant with the company rules, regulations, practices, policies, and the latest product changes.
- Refreshers & Motivation Training: This is a one-day training program mostly for Credit & Recovery Officers (CROs), assistant branch managers, and branch managers. It is organized by branch/region/division-wise. Our refresher training is specially designed for the field staff to update their knowledge of our latest products and modifications of the existing products, comprehensive skill building in customer service management, negotiations, and dealing with challenging situations. These training sessions reinforce employee skills and knowledge.
- Skill Development Training: This is a one-day training program for Credit & Recovery Officer (CRO), Assistant Branch Manager, and Branch Manager. It is organized by region/division-wise. Skill development training is specially designed for the field staff to develop their presentation skills, analytical activities, leadership, ability to do proper credit assessment, and ability to deal with various challenging situations. This training session develops the employee's skills and knowledge.
- Skill Development Training for BM: This is a one-day training program for Assistant Branch Manager (ABM) and Branch Manager (BM). It is organized region/division-wise. Skill development training is specially designed for the field-level staff to develop their managerial skills, analytical activities, leadership, ability to make proper decisions, and ability to deal with various challenging situations. This training session develops the employee's skills, knowledge, and decision-making power.
- Training of Trainers (TOT): This is a 3-day training for selected RM/SR.RM/DM/SR.DM/AOM to develop them as a facilitator.
- Microfinance Management Course Micro (MMC): The main focus is to develop the capacity of front-line staff members to maximize the productivity of microfinance towards the sustainability of groups, programs, and companies through proper group development, business growth, minimizing risk, and fair practices in customer service.
- Financial Literacy, Depositor Education & Awareness program: This is the training for group members that is conducted by CRO in the collection meeting.
- Microfinance Software Training: MFI software operation & KYC upload for group members usually imparted by our trainers and IT professional jointly sometimes throughout the year.
- Managerial Competency Development (MCD) Course: To develop managerial competency/skills of managers to assess the risk factor to develop their communication skills to enhance their value proposition to upgrade their leadership skills for conflict resolution to develop business etiquette to manage stress under pressure to improve email writing & emailing etiquette soft skills & life skill training.
- Capsule Training Program: In UFSPL, sometimes we also develop the managerial skills of the employees through special training programs such as managerial induction on leadership & entrepreneurship skills. This program interprets employees' potential, personality traits, leadership qualities, decision-making, critical thinking, analytical, and organizational skills to develop their entrepreneurial capabilities as future managers.

Concern for environment
Uttrayan’s main concern is to improve human life in every way. As we belief financial betterment is not sufficient to improve human life, hence we are giving special emphasis on environment improvement to create a healthier future generation.

The members of our staff are our most important resources. We make efforts to upgrade their skills and improve their welfare measures on a continuous basis.

- We have also been adjudged one out of three top nominees for “Highest Employment Generation by Cos. with turnover upto Rs.100 Crs.” by the prestigious award committee of Economic Times Bengal Corporate Award (ETBCA).
